The Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell has many focus areas for research and scholarship, such as biotechnology, bioprocessing, advanced engineered materials, nuclear engineering, paper engineering and process controls. The faculty is recognized for research especially in the areas of bioprocessing and biotechnology, advanced materials, nuclear engineering and paper engineering. But its first and foremost focus is the education of the next generation of chemical engineers.
